Foundation Announces 2024 Scholarship Winners

Winnebago, NE– The Winnebago Health Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Foundation Scholarships. This year’s winners have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, community involvement, and a strong commitment to their future careers. These scholarships aim to support their educational journeys and empower them to contribute significantly to the Winnebago community.

Diana Jimenez, a dedicated nurse with eight years of experience, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Morningside College. With a perfect GPA of 4.0, Diana has been nominated for the DAISY Awards and recognized as a top nurse by the Sioux City Journal. She plans to become a Nurse Practitioner to serve the Winnebago community.

Denise Milford is enrolled in Little Priest Tribal College pursuing a degree in Biology. She has been honored as the American Indian Scholarship Fund Student of the Year 2024 and has served as the Student Senate President. Denise is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and experiences with the younger generation in Winnebago, aiming to inspire and educate future leaders.

Kristia Slowman, a previous scholarship recipient, continues to excel in her studies towards a Bachelor of Science at Western Governors University. Working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at WCHS, Kristia has benefited greatly from the financial support provided by the scholarship, allowing her to focus on her education without the burden of additional debt.

Mia Regalado, a recent graduate of Winnebago Public Schools, is studying Nursing at Western Iowa Tech Community College. With a passion for community service, Mia aims to bring her expertise back to Winnebago to initiate youth awareness programs and enhance healthcare services. She is determined to create a brighter future for her people through education and leadership.

Sandy Scott is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Human Services at Wayne State College. Sandy has made significant contributions to the community through his work with the Boys and Girls Club Board of Trustees and the Nebraska Connecting Families Steering Committee. His goal is to become a licensed Mental Health Therapist and advocate for culturally relevant mental health services for Indigenous communities.
