WCHS Welcomes Baby Girl "Neo Naylee”

Winnebago, NE – On April 15, Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) held a special baby shower to welcome its newest team member, a high-tech baby mannequin from the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). This event introduced staff to new NRP equipment and provided Twelve Clans Unity Hospital's Emergency Room and Inpatient nurses with hands-on neonatal emergency response training.

WCHS does not offer labor and delivery services. The majority of WCHS’s patients deliver their babies at UnityPoint St Luke's in Sioux City where the same specialists who host WCHS’s Family Medicine Specialty appointments can assist with the delivery. The NRP mannequin ensures that nurses are prepared to effectively respond, care for, and treat newborns in an emergency. During the training ‘baby shower’, WCHS staff learned how to properly tend to an infant using the new mannequin and equipment. As part of this "Baby Shower" celebration, nurses participated in a drawing to name the baby mannequin. The winning name, "Neo Naylee," symbolizes the hospital's commitment to readiness and compassionate care in all situations.

“This baby shower brought energy and engagement to a vital training session,” said Sheryl Steuk, WCHS Nurse Educator. “Our goal is to ensure our nurses are confident and prepared for any emergency that may arise, and Neo Naylee will be an important part of that mission.”

The neonatal resuscitation training is one of many continuing education opportunities provided at WCHS throughout the year. At WCHS, staff members regularly participate in training programs such as MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) classes, fire extinguishers, NRP, and so much more. These consistent classes help maintain a safe and skilled environment for both patients and employees of WCHS.

WCHS remains committed to delivering high-quality care by investing in its people, its training, and its community.
