The Purchased Referred Care (PRC) program provides high-quality specialty care and seamless access for eligible patients in our designated delivery area. The PRC program is essential for arranging specialty medical services that are not currently available in Winnebago, such as cardiology, ear nose & throat, and dialysis and medical resources needed. The goal is to ensure seamless access to necessary healthcare services, including assistance with transportation through free transportation options or gas vouchers for eligible patients.
Who Qualifies?
The WCHS Purchased Referred Care program is assigned a Purchased Referred Care Delivery Area (PRCDA). This specifies that our PRC program serves exclusively:
- Enrolled Winnebago Tribal Members
- A member of any federally recognized Tribe who currently resides on the Winnebago Reservation.
Additionally, this team also arranges services for any Native American Veteran eligible to receive veteran benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
If you meet any of these qualifications and have been referred from WCHS Primary Care Provider to a specialty care or specialty services not available at our health system, or in emergency situations. This PRC program is here to assist you.
If you do not qualify for our PRC program...
but would like to receive assistance, please explore if your tribe has a Purchased Referred Care program and work with your WCHS provider.

Maximizing Impact of PRC
Not all medical needs can be covered under Purchased Referred Care, with WCHS assessing the medical priority of the required treatment. The PRC team plays a crucial role in helping our patients enroll in relevant insurance opportunities, book specialists, and organize transportation. Their collaborative efforts effectively guide our patients and ensure that they receive the best possible care outside of WCHS, while maximizing our limited PRC funds to help as many relatives in our delivery.
